A stunning new contemporary property overlooking the historic natural harbour of Poole Bay in Dorset, Janine
Pattison Studios were commissioned to design a master plan that resolved complex
planning issues that had arisen during the build of the residence. The proposed design not
only addresses these issues, but went further to present a more
sustainable, ecologically-friendly and sympathetic landscape design
solution to the site, including an allée of standard bay trees, generous planting beds and fruit orchard.
LAKESIDE ROAD PODCAST
With far-reaching views out over the Dorset coastline, this house demanded an elegant and stylish design solution
that was in harmony with the top-quality build of the dwelling. We created an exclusive ‘garden spa
retreat’ for the client, including sedum-roofed garden lodge with sauna, shower and exclusive
bar area, mosaic swim spa pool, with large patios and level lawn. As the property was four storeys-high, the design possesses a broader perspective of balance and harmony.
The architectural beauty of Huf Haus are legendary, and the property needed an equally impressive set of gardens. Looking down over Brownsea Island, the land drops away over nine metres. Using a series of smooth-rendered terrace walls, we ran a water wall from the top through four 'rain-chain' sluices into a rill at the bottom. With two floating hardwood decks, astonishing night lighting, a Betula utilis var. jacquemontii arboretum and colourful tropical planting, the gardens are now a match for the haus.
